Do you face this issue? Numbering slides from 1, multiple times in PowerPoint.

We have already covered all Shape Effects available in PowerPoint 2007 for Windows, except 3-D rotation. In this tutorial, we remedy that omission and show you how you can add a 3-D Rotation effect to a selected shape in PowerPoint 2007 (or higher version).

To see a sample presentation containing 3D Rotation effects in PowerPoint 2007, scroll down to the bottom of this page.

Note: Any shape that you apply a 3-D Rotation effect needs to have some 3-D depth to show rotation. You can add depth using details provided on the 3-D Options page.

Follow these steps to apply a 3-D Rotation effect to a shape:

  1. Select a shape you want to apply the effect to. Selecting a shape activates the Drawing Tools Format tab in the Ribbon. Activate this tab and locate the Shape Effects button that you can see in Figure 1 (highlighted in red).
  2. Shape Effects button
    Figure 1: Shape Effects button
  3. This brings up the Shape Effects drop-down gallery as you can see in Figure 2. From the Shape Effects drop-down gallery, choose 3-D Rotation.
  4. 3-D Rotation sub-gallery
    Figure 2: 3-D Rotation sub-gallery
  5. This opens the 3-D Rotation sub-gallery (refer to Figure 2) that provides the following options:
  6. A. No Rotation

  7. Use this option to remove 3-D Rotation from a selected shape. You can use this option only if the shape has 3-D Rotation applied.
  8. B. Parallel

  9. Provides 10 variants that rotate the shape in different angles.
  10. C. Perspective

  11. Provides 11 variants that rotate the shape, and alter the angle (perspective) from where you view the shape, so that farther edges appear smaller than nearer edges.
  12. D. Oblique

  13. Provides 4 variants that apply a very subtle rotation, almost as if a 2-D object is in a semi-3-D space.
  14. E. 3-D Rotation Options

  15. Brings up a 3-D Rotation tab where you can customize 3-D Rotation Options further.
  16. Mouse over any of the effects within the 3-D Rotation gallery to see a Live Preview of the effect. Click on an effect to apply it to the selected shape.
  17. Remember to save your presentation often.
