Determine if SP1 is Installed within PowerPoint 2013 for Windows

In our Update Office 2013 to Service Pack 1 tutorial, we showed you how to install the Service Pack 1 update for Office 2013. There are chances that the SP1 update can be installed automatically on your computer without notifying you, or your company's IT department could have rolled the SP1 update for you. Whatever the case may me, it is important to first find out whether your version of Office 2013 already has the SP1 installed or not.

Follow these steps to find out whether your version of PowerPoint (and Office 2013) already has SP1 installed:

1. Launch PowerPoint 2013, and choose the File menu to bring up Backstage view, and select the Account option, as shown in Figure 1.

2. This brings up all the Account options on the right side of the window. Here, click the About PowerPoint button, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 2.

3. This opens the About Microsoft PowerPoint dialog box, as shown in Figure 3. In Figure 3 below, notice the area highlighted in red that shows the version of updates installed. If SP1 is installed, the version will be (15.0.4569.1506) or higher. In Figure 3 the version is lesser than (15.0.4569.1506) which means that this copy of Office 2013 is not updated with SP1.

4. Now, see the update version within the About Microsoft PowerPoint dialog box from another computer where SP1 was installed. Here the update version is (15.0.4569.1506), as shown highlighted in red within Figure 4. This determines that the Office 2013 already has SP1 installed.

6. Click the OK button to get out of About Microsoft PowerPoint dialog box.
