Resizing images to make them larger than what they originally are is normally something that is scorned by purists -- and the fact that pixel quality decreases as you blow up a picture is definitely a very well established rule. Technology though can change quite a few things, and now you can no longer say that resizing larger will decrease quality -- at least, not all the time. There have been specialized resizing applications that do the task with better results for a while now, and a new entrant: PhotoZoom Pro 3 uses its own technology for enlarging pictures with sharper and clearer magnifications, without adding blurriness, or unnatural looking artifacts.

It's often very time-consuming and expensive to record voice-overs with professionals -- of course you can record your own voice these days but not everyone is entirely audible and has the proper pronunciation, vocal control, and confidence to do that. I already covered this concept using PowerPoint 2003, and now will be exploring the relationship between text boxes and text placeholders in PowerPoint 2007. But maybe someone just said stop, and asked me these questions: Aren't text boxes and text placeholders the same? Are they really different? And why should I bother even if they are different?
All these are valid questions, and the answers to them form one of the most important foundations in learning to create more structured presentations.

If you have multiple versions of PowerPoint installed, you might find that when you double-click on a PPT or PPTX file, it opens in a version of PowerPoint that's different from the one you want it to open! Now you can reinstall all your versions of PowerPoint (and Microsoft Office) again in the sequence you want -- and that might take a few hours, or you might do a few registry tweaks -- and that's not for the faint of heart, or even if you are scared of the registry! So it was a great thing that one of our readers decided to share this DOS batch file with us that makes the whole process painless. Having said that, do this at your own risk -- and if you are comfortable!

In PowerPoint slides, text can be found in many places: text placeholders, text boxes, tables, charts, Notes pane, and more places. However, the text within a text placeholder has characteristics that set it a class apart from all other text. So what exactly is a text placeholder, and how is it different from text within a text box or anywhere else?

In the PowerPoint 2003 Interface page, I already showed you the different parts of the program interface -- in this page, we'll focus on one particular area of the interface: the Slides/Outline pane, and it is normally placed on the left side of the interface. The Slides tab is normally active, but to get to the Outline tab, all you need to do is select the second tab shown in the pane.
