You learned what Edit Points in PowerPoint are and how this option influences the look of shapes in PowerPoint. Even though the Edit Points option edits vertexes and give you control over how you want a shape to look, sometimes you might find it difficult to edit a certain segment in a shape because there are no points available to manipulate? The next option in our Insert Online Video in PowerPoint 2013 series is inserting video from a Video Embed Code. Here you can use embed code from any site and paste into Insert Video dialog box to insert the video clip into your slide. Technically, this option should work with YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and most other sites. In reality, this option seems to only work with YouTube! And with YouTube, you don't even need code since PowerPoint 2013 allows you to directly search and insert video clips from YouTube.

Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 11 enables you to edit photos and vector drawings. It allows you to perform text handling at a minute level. Photo & Graphic Designer is used by many illustrators and includes a set of really easy to use vector line and shape drawing and editing tools. Version 11 Premium is the newest one. When compared with Xara Designer Pro X v8 (or earlier), you'll find plenty of new features and content in Photo & Graphic Designer 11.

Our next option within the Insert Online Video series is inserting video from OneDrive (previously known as SkyDrive). OneDrive is an online service which allows you to store files online – it also allows you to work on Microsoft Office web applications such as PowerPoint Online, where you can create and edit presentations. The Online Video option in PowerPoint 2013 has been greatly enhanced. This feature is very helpful as you are not limited to just the video available on your system. You can choose from a variety of other video sources. And all this happens within PowerPoint -- there's no need to open your web browser.

When you select an audio clip in PowerPoint 2013, you will see two extra contextual tabs on the Ribbon. One of these tabs is the Audio Tool Playback tab that provides options to configure properties that define how your inserted audio will play. Whether it will play automatically, or will it play audio across slides? Let's assume that you want your audio to play as a background score across multiple slides -- typically you would have to make four separate choices -- but PowerPoint 2013's new Audio Styles feature lets you automatically apply these four settings at once!

When you insert a shape within PowerPoint, you are not limited to what their default appearance looks like. You may want to change a rectangle to a rhombus, or even edit a curved or freeform line differently. The good news is that you can do this using the Edit Points option -- this almost makes PowerPoint a drawing program that provides you the option to play with vertexes (points), handles, etc. -- very similar to what you would do in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW.

Let's imagine that you want to show a clock on your slides -- or, do you want to show a countdown or even counters of seconds, minutes, hours, or even days? Or if your countdown gets to zero, you may want something to happen after that, such as moving to another slide? Of course, this is possible to achieve in PowerPoint. All you need is a thorough knowledge of programming, and even better -- a programmer sitting next to you all the time so that you don't have to worry about setting it all up! We found a better solution, and it does not need a full time programmer -- it only needs a one-time investment of a few dollars. And it's an add-in called Dynamic TIME that plugs right within PowerPoint.

Unlike OneDrive and Dropbox which you add as a Place to access and save files in PowerPoint for iPad, Apple’s iCloud does not work the same way. To access and save files on your iCloud Drive, you will have to work a little differently as explained within this tutorial.

Of all the many bad raps against PowerPoint—TMI (Too Much Information), MEGO (My Eyes Glaze Over), Data Dump, Show up and Throw Up, and "Just mail me the deck!"—the worst is The Laundry List, in which the slides in a presentation have all the continuity of a deck of cards shuffled by a Las Vegas dealer. We've all been there: "First, I'd like to talk about…then I'd like to talk about…then I'd like to talk about… then I'd like to talk about…and last, but not least…"
