Slides Pane in PowerPoint 2016 for Windows

PowerPoint 2016’s work area below the Ribbon continues to be tri-paned. These three panes comprise the Slides Pane, the Slide Area, and the Notes Pane. The Slides Pane is the thin strip on the left side of the PowerPoint 2016 interface that contains thumbnails of all your slides. Within Normal view, the Slide Pane allows you to move slides easily from one position to the other just by dragging and dropping.

Editing View (Normal View) in PowerPoint Online

Editing view in PowerPoint Online is comparable to Normal view in desktop versions of PowerPoint. Editing View is the most often used view other than PowerPoint Online’s default Reading view, which does not let you edit content. Within Editing View, PowerPoint displays one slide at a time in the Slide Area and shows PowerPoint's typical tri-pane interface that also includes the Slides Pane and the Notes Pane.

Mini Toolbar in PowerPoint Online

Slide designers love to make quick edits to their slide objects! Impressive slides, though, are created painstakingly and take so much time. For example, you may have to play around with different fill options to make your slides look awesome, or even make umpteen changes to how your slide text appears. PowerPoint Online does provide extensive commands that allow edits; these command options are found within the Ribbon tabs. Yet, all these tasks involve moving your cursor to the Ribbon, located above the Slide Area and back continuously. While this movement may not result in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, it helps to know that PowerPoint Online also includes the Mini Toolbar, a floating toolbar that spawns right next to the cursor, and it is also available instantly with a right-click!
